CAMH Chooses Mohawk Medbuy as FF&E Partner for New Toronto Facilities Project
Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC) recently signed an agreement to work with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) for the Waverley House Secure Care and Recovery Building redevelopment project located in downtown Toronto. MMC’s Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FF&E) team will provide tailored oversight and execution of the FF&E procurements for this unique and complex project.
“This redevelopment will inspire hope and healing, and help transform secure recovery for some of our most vulnerable patients,” said Jennifer Wilson, Executive Director, Planning, Design & Operational Improvement at CAMH. “Mohawk Medbuy’s expertise and customized approach to FF&E projects, along with their comprehensive network of reliable vendors and suppliers, are key ingredients for a successful outcome to this major undertaking.”
MMC’s FF&E team provides consultation and procurement support for capital projects. Working closely with designers and medical professionals, the team tailors solutions to the specific needs of the hospital and provides oversight and execution of FF&E procurements in alignment with the project budget and schedule.
The procurement of FF&E for the CAMH facilities includes more than 14,000 items, some of which facilitate patient engagement and creativity, such as musical instruments. The project will replace facilities for mentally ill patients who have encountered the law. All the elements for the facility will be chosen to ensure a secure environment for patients and staff with furnishings and fixtures designed to prevent self-harm and aggressive behaviors.
“We’re extremely pleased to build an integrated partnership with the team at CAMH for this important project, lending the significant experience of our team and the benefits of the large, value-based contracts we negotiate,” said Raechel Griffin, Vice President, Capital Equipment, FF&E, Redevelopment and Nutrition. “We look forward to contributing to the creation of this state-of-the-art mental health care facility.”
