Sunnybrook Transitioning to MMC’s Pharmacy Program
Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC) is pleased to announce that Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre will be onboarding to our Pharmacy procurement and supply chain services. The renowned academic health sciences centre is part of the growing transition to MMC’s not-for-profit, shared services model that continues to deliver tremendous value and resilience for Canada’s health care supply chain.
Two of the retail pharmacies at Sunnybrook’s Odette Cancer Centre have been leveraging MMC’s program for hospital-owned retail pharmacies since 2023. A vital patient resource, these pharmacies provide timely access to specialized care – including safe medication support – for local patient populations. Our Retail Pharmacy Program helps protect the financial viability of these important patient touchpoints while providing superior patient care for vulnerable cancer patients.
With this announcement, Sunnybrook is expanding the use of MMC’s value-added procurement support to all pharmacies across its sites. “We’re happy to be working with Sunnybrook as their Pharmacy partner,” said Ally Dhalla, MMC’s Senior Vice President, Pharmacy and Clinical Services and Innovation. “MMC’s end-to-end Pharmacy solutions are backed by our robust analytics capabilities and deep clinical understanding of hospital pharmacies. We look forward to supporting all of Sunnybrook’s pharmacy professionals and the crucial role they play in providing compassionate, patient-centred care.”
MMC’s advanced analytics are the foundation for industry-leading procurement services that address many of the day-to-day supply chain challenges hospitals face. One example is MMC’s MitigAID program, which harnesses robust data insights to help hospitals minimize patient risk during manufacturer supply disruptions.
As the Pharmacy partner of choice for a growing number of Ontario’s hospitals, MMC’s large-scale contracts unify our Member hospitals’ collective need for essential drugs. By consolidating pharmaceutical procurement and leveraging some of Canada’s largest contract volumes, MMC not only generates much-needed savings for hospitals but also helps strengthen the province’s health care supply chain.
“Sunnybrook’s Pharmacy team is focused on providing the best care for patients,” said Danette Beechinor, Co-Director of the Precision Diagnostics and Therapeutics Program at Sunnybrook. “Strategically aligning our procurement needs with MMC hospitals across Ontario is crucial to building a resilient health care supply chain. MMC’s value-added support helps us address the unique challenges of the hospital pharmacy environment.”
