University Health Network Joins Mohawk Medbuy’s Strategic Sourcing Program

Mohawk Medbuy (MMC) is pleased to announce that the University Health Network (UHN) has officially signed on as a Mohawk Medbuy Member. The world-renowned health care provider will continue to access MMC’s significant portfolio of medical/surgical contracts and participate in MMC Strategic Sourcing initiatives, which are amongst the largest in Canada. Mohawk Medbuy is a national, not-for-profit shared services organization specializing in health care supply chain.

“As Canada’s #1 Hospital and largest academic health sciences centre, UHN is always looking for excellence in our partnerships,” said Hugh Amiel, Senior Finance Director, Procurement and Supply Chain, UHN. “Mohawk Medbuy brings a strategic approach to sourcing, an extensive contract portfolio, and other resources that will support TeamUHN, our programs and, most importantly, our patients.”

One of the noteworthy MMC programs that UHN benefits from is MitigAID, which helps minimize risk to patients during manufacturer supply disruptions of essential medical supplies. MitigAID harnesses MMC’s robust data insights and provides centralized communication and substitute product information – reducing the workload on hospital staff and freeing them up for frontline patient care priorities.

“We’re extremely pleased to have UHN as an MMC Member – contributing to and benefiting from the large, value-based contracts we negotiate on behalf of hundreds of Canadian hospitals,” said Peter Longo, MMC’s Chief Operating Officer. “UHN has earned an enviable reputation in Canada and around the world, and we look forward to supporting the high standard of patient care they deliver.”
