Mohawk Medbuy Designated as an Aboriginal Procurement Champion

Mohawk Medbuy (MMC) is proud to announce that we are now an Aboriginal Procurement Champion through the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB). MMC is a non-Indigenous Member of CCAB, and this new designation recognizes our commitment to Indigenizing Canada’s health care supply chain by empowering and uplifting the participation of Indigenous businesses.

Becoming an Aboriginal Procurement Champion is a critical milestone in MMC’s Reconciliation Journey. “Mohawk Medbuy is actively engaged in concrete action towards meaningful, impactful Economic Reconciliation,” said Tony DiEmanuele, MMC’s President and CEO. “Our designation as an Aboriginal Procurement Champion solidifies our commitment to fostering genuine economic opportunities for Indigenous-led businesses and working together to build a resilient public sector supply chain.”

As a not-for-profit, shared services organization, MMC’s national scale and scope uniquely position us to grow the participation of Indigenous businesses across Canada’s health care supply chain. Our longstanding relationships with Members, vendors, government stakeholders and partners, including our ongoing collaboration with MSS Ltd., provide a strong foundation to cultivate these opportunities. Additionally, in 2022, MMC welcomed our first Director, Indigenous Partnerships and Strategies – a dedicated staff position focused on developing a long-term strategy to advance MMC’s goal of meaningful Economic Reconciliation and accelerate our engagement.

“We commend Mohawk Medbuy for their efforts to build a value-based supply chain in the crucial sector of health care, including the building of an Indigenous supply chain and, now, on their commitment to becoming an Aboriginal Procurement Champion,” said CCAB President and CEO, Tabatha Bull. “Mohawk Medbuy continuously gives back to the hospitals and other care providers they serve and is committed to expanding opportunities for Indigenous businesses. We look forward to seeing the results of their efforts.”
