Mohawk Medbuy and Niagara Health Partnering to Equip New South Niagara Site Hospital

Large-scale procurement project supports a more connected health care system in the region

Niagara Health (NH) is partnering with Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC) to equip the new South Niagara Site (SNS) hospital, which is expected to break ground this year. MMC, a national, not-for-profit, shared services organization, will collaborate with the SNS project team to procure the furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) needed for the new facility in this growing region of the province.

Thousands of items that fall under the FF&E umbrella are needed to get the SNS hospital ready to deliver the best possible patient care. The hospital will need complex equipment such as diagnostic imaging systems, laboratory equipment and surgical equipment, along with other essential items, from hospital beds to waiting room seating and light fixtures.

MMC is providing a dedicated team of sourcing specialists that will be fully integrated with NH’s staff and offer end-to-end support for the entirety of the project. With MMC’s more than 30 years of experience in capital and FF&E procurement, NH will be able to leverage established MMC agreements to realize significant cost savings and meet key project milestones. This new range of comprehensive procurement support will increasingly be made available to other MMC Members with large-scale capital project needs.

Located in Niagara Falls, ON, the South Niagara Site hospital will be an integral part of Niagara Health’s connected health care system and strengthen access to local health services in the region. The 1.2 million-square-foot hospital will feature 469 beds, eight operating suites and 42 hemodialysis stations. It’s slated to open in 2028.
