Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC), The Ottawa Hospital (TOH), and Shared Support Services Southeastern Ontario (3SO) are in discussions to explore opportunities for a more robust supply chain model for Eastern Ontario.
This week, the three organizations signed a nonbinding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to further their discussions. Through a due diligence process, MMC, TOH and 3SO are looking to create an optimal supply chain model to service the region. Similar to other initiatives MMC has recently completed, the opportunity exists to set up an Eastern regional office that leverages their central sourcing and extensive data repositories, while maintaining local services and support.
“MMC has well-established relationships with our partners in Eastern Ontario and we believe this collaborative process can result in greater certainty of supply chain services for the region,” said Tony DiEmanuele, President and CEO of MMC.
“Hospitals in the southeast have been supported by 3SO for over ten years and by MMC for the past two years. We look forward to exploring deeper collaboration opportunities with MMC, and to expanding this collaboration to include The Ottawa Hospital, creating a high-performing and sustainable supply chain for eastern Ontario healthcare organizations,” said Dr. David Pichora, 3SO Board Chair and President and CEO Kingston Health Sciences Centre. “We hope to build on the great service provided by 3SO and MMC in a new, broader partnership that aligns with provincial strategy and provides high quality service to our patients, clinicians and staff.”
“TOH is the largest acute care hospital in Eastern Ontario and welcomes this opportunity to develop long-term partnerships with leading health-care supply chain management organizations to better support patient care in our region,” said Cameron Love, President and CEO of TOH. “This initiative aligns with the Ontario government’s direction of centralization and will create more resiliency for the healthcare supply chain.”
