Mohawk Medbuy Procures Retail Cafeteria Services for Newest Member

Grey Bruce Health Services Awards Contract for Cafeteria & Hospitality

In December 2020, Mohawk Medbuy welcomed Grey Bruce Health Services (GBHS), a recognized leader in rural health care, as their newest Member. Shortly thereafter, GBHS approached MMC’s Non-Clinical Sourcing Team for help creating a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Retail Cafeteria Hospitality Services.

“This was a complex initiative encompassing service requirements and a scope of work which we’ve never taken to market before,” said Karen Noble, Strategic Sourcing Manager at Mohawk Medbuy. “We created an RFP based on retail concepts, operations structure, management and staffing details, and sustainability. We also included provisional language for in-patient meal services – something which can provide additional value going forward.”

The contract, which begins in May, was awarded to Compass Group Canada, the country’s leading foodservice and support services provider with over 25,000 associates working in more than 2,200 locations throughout the country.

The new contract, a recent addition to MMC’s already impressive suite of over 1,300 agreements, includes a full renovation of the GBHS cafeteria space, which will increase revenue and compensation back to the hospital. “We rose to the challenge under very tight timelines, complying with BPS and other guidelines to provide substantial value for our newest Member.” said Noble.

“We’re very satisfied with the way Mohawk Medbuy handled this initiative, particularly given the short timelines that were required,” said John Kurvink, GBHS VP, Financial Services, and CFO. “We are pleased with the vendor and we look forward to working with the Compass Group to provide a broad range of food choices for our staff and visitors.”
