Mohawk Medbuy and 3SO Announce Collaboration

New sourcing relationship will bring cost savings and supply chain efficiencies to multiple Southeastern Ontario hospital organizations

BURLINGTON – August 15, 2019 - Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC) and Shared Support Services Southeastern Ontario (3SO), announced a new collaboration in serving the needs of health care organizations in the province. The following have signed as members of Mohawk Medbuy - Brockville General Hospital, Kingston Health Sciences Centre, Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital, Providence Care Centre, Quinte Healthcare Corporation and Lennox and Addington County General Hospital.  Under the MMC-3SO relationship, 3SO will continue to act on behalf of the hospitals and work with Mohawk Medbuy to provide high-quality customer service.

With this new collaboration, Mohawk Medbuy expands its work with other shared services organizations in consolidating the strategic sourcing of medical/surgical products, pharmaceuticals and other services for Ontario and other Canadian health providers.

“By working together with 3SO and our newest Member hospitals in Southeastern Ontario, we’re bringing even more efficiency to the health care supply chain, which is a priority we share with the province,” said Tony DiEmanuele, President and CEO of Mohawk Medbuy. “It enables us to go to market with RFPs for even larger volumes, which gives hospitals access to better pricing, better terms – better value overall, so they can direct more resources to frontline patient care.  At the same time this reduces the number of contracts that vendors need to administer.”

KHSC/3SO are already participating in large, collaborative RFP’s as part of this new relationship, with the recent participation in Heart valves. Heart valve disease is a term used for several conditions that affect the four valves of the heart. Heart valve disease happens when any of the heart’s valves either cannot open well enough to let blood flow through (stenosis) or cannot close well enough to prevent backflow (regurgitation). Heart Values is the first RFP launched through the new MPSC sourcing initiative (MMC Plexxus Sourcing Collaborative).

KHSC is one of the 11 cardiac centers taking part in this important RFP which impacts over 4000 patients per year in the province of Ontario.

3SO is also actively exploring participating in other province-wide RFP’s in the coming months. 3SO, which is owned by its 6 hospital members, provides procure to pay services across 13 hospital locations. It supports these hospitals with on-site purchasing and materials management support and just-in-time inventory delivery.

“We serve outstanding health care facilities in our region and this collaboration with Mohawk Medbuy was a good decision all the way around. It eliminates duplication and allows our two organizations to focus our respective efforts in the areas where we can best support the delivery of quality patient care more sustainably,” commented 3SO’s CEO, Paul McAuley. “It’s a very positive step forward and we look forward to growing the relationship.”
