Kingston Health Sciences Centre Selects MMC Pharmacy Services

Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC) is pleased to announce that Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) has selected our Pharmacy Services program to support their delivery of patient care. Under the agreement, MMC will oversee the sourcing and contract management of pharmaceutical drugs used at all KHSC sites. Through MMC’s value-driven, not-for-profit, shared services model, the organization has become a key player in the Canada’s health care supply chain.

“KHSC has benefited from Mohawk Medbuy’s medical/surgical contracts for many years, so we’re pleased to expand our relationship to include pharmaceutical products as well,” said Ally Dhalla, MMC’s Senior Vice President, Pharmacy & Clinical Services and Innovation. “MMC negotiates some of the country’s largest pharmaceutical contracts on behalf of hundreds of hospitals. Having KHSC contribute to and benefit from the scale and savings of those collaborative agreements is very positive.”

Kingston Health Sciences Centre is not alone in recognizing the value of Mohawk Medbuy’s industry-leading Pharmacy program. Brockville General Hospital recently announced their transition to MMC – and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Halton Healthcare, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, Sinai Health and The Ottawa Hospital have all moved their sourcing and contract management of pharmaceutical products to Mohawk Medbuy over the past year.

“After comprehensive discussions and evaluation, we have determined that working with MMC for our Pharmacy program is the preferred strategy going forward – aligning our approach with hospitals in our region and that of other academic health sciences centres. Our due diligence confirmed that Mohawk Medbuy offers excellent value in addressing the formulary requirements of KHSC,” said Renate Ilse, Executive Vice President, Corporate Services and Chief Operating Officer at Kingston Health Sciences Centre. “They have a robust contract portfolio and helpful programs such as MitigAID that will benefit our Pharmacy team and those receiving care from KHSC.”
